Really, it’s like drinking water from a firehose. In just one day, your high school student will gain enough knowledge, tools and experience to compose essays for high school, college entrance exams, college courses, and beyond.
Your student will do the following at this workshop:
Develop pre-writing skills by using essay-specific graphic organizers.
Gain experience writing theses and conclusions.
Develop body paragraphs by incorporating supporting data.
Compose various stages of six kinds of essays (process, cause-effect, compare-contrast, editorial, problem-solution, and argumentation).
Review grammar, syntax, and sentence variation for more powerful writing.
Create opportunities to incorporate college-level vocabulary words into conversation and writing.
Analyze excerpts from “A” essays written by former semester-long High School Composition students.
Become familiar with MLA formatting.
Adopt a strategy for taking timed essay tests.
The workshop includes a workbook that serves as a springboard for students to earn .5 or 1.0 credit on their high school transcript.
$80 per student, payable via this website through PayPal or with cash or check in person.
(Bring to workshop at check-in.)
What to Bring
