Your student will do the following at this workshop:

Develop pre-writing skills by using essay-specific graphic organizers.

Gain experience writing theses and conclusions.

Develop body paragraphs by incorporating supporting data.

Compose various stages of six kinds of essays (process, cause-effect, compare-contrast, editorial, problem-solution, and argumentation).

Review grammar, syntax, and sentence variation for more powerful writing.

Create opportunities to incorporate college-level vocabulary words into conversation and writing.
-
Analyze excerpts from “A” essays written by former semester-long High School Composition students.
-
Become familiar with MLA formatting.

Adopt a strategy for taking timed essay tests.
Credit
Students can earn .5 to 1.0 credit on their high school transcript.
